Tim Roberts
photo: successful student Tim Roberts I wanted a job that would give me the opportunity to gain technical qualifications and to earn while I learn, and the job of apprentice lift truck mechanic provides interest and variety. Some of the college work is quite challenging, but the qualifications I gain will set me up for a good career. When I reach my goal of becoming a mobile service engineer, the effort will have been worthwhile.

Jonathan Done - FLTA Apprentice of the Year 2006

photo: Apprentice of the year 2006 Jonathan Done This job gives you a different challenge every day. I've always been interested in engineering and I'm the sort of person who really likes to go in and get his hands dirty. But it's not just about the work. We also get along very well as a team and have a laugh together. Everyone - from the tutors at college to the engineers in the workshop and the managers in the office - is always ready to give you help whenever you need it.

It's great to be working with experienced engineers who have so much knowledge. I think it's important that their expertise is passed on to a new generation and not lost.
